Apple Tarte Tatin

Backstory:

After having seen this dessert being made numerous times on the tv, I knew I wanted to try a recipe for it. Originally, the plan was to make a pear one, as I’ve always liked to use pears in desserts. However, I ran out of pears and decided to substitute them for apples, so if you’re confused why the recipe below uses pears, well now you know the story. This is how it turned out….

Recipes:

Puff Pastry: https://anitalianinmykitchen.com/puff-pastry/

Tips and Tricks:

  • Swap the pears for apples in the recipe
  • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream
  • Take your time arranging the apple segments in the pan to form a nice design

Recommendation and rating:

Overall, this dessert was well received! The sweet sugary apples, combined with the crisp, soft pastry was a perfect match. The cream brought the dish together and balanced the sweetness of the apples. It’s a great dessert for sharing, and the reveal of lifting the dessert from the pan was such a fun surprise. An excellent dish which deserves 5 stars!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

  1. That looks genuinely impressive – the apple caramel layer looks so glossy. I’ve seen tarte tatin being made on TV too, but I’d definitely be nervous about the flip/reveal part 😂 Was it as stressful as it looks?
