Backstory:
This week’s recipe comes from Waitrose and with the shop cementing its status as almost a second sibling in our household. It’s of no surprise that at home these recipes are commonplace. But this one has always stood out in being a quick midweek meal that no one will fuss over. And you can’t deny how tasty it is!

Recipes:
Teriyaki chicken gyoza: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/teriyaki-chicken-gyoza?srsltid=AfmBOooZyFpwIGtAxfao3QvLaYx_fJQ_hxaIzI_JX9eR11iwcpBBCUjY
Tips and Tricks:
- I recommend pan frying the gyoza, then steaming to achieve a crisp outside and soft centre
- Add in some mirin and gochujang paste to provide some sweet heat to the dish
- Add in more teriyaki and soy sauce than the recipes says, especially if you like more sauce for your rice!
- Can top with crushed peanuts or sesame seeds to add more texture to the dish
Recommendation and rating:
Overall if you’re unsure what to make midweek and want something not too adventurous but still tasty, then this dish is for you! The soft gyoza, mixes with the rice and vegetables perfectly and the sauce brings the dish together. The mellow heat from the gochujang complimented by the saltiness from the soy gives the sauce a warm comforting node. With my suggestions and a couple of tweaks, this recipe is 5 stars but on its own I give it 4 stars!
