Godzilla inspired Vegan Chilli Chocolate Brownies

These certainly bring the heat!!

Background:

We all love a good Godzilla movie, and after watching one, I was inspired to turn the creature into an edible treat! I’ve been wanting to try more vegan recipes, and since a vegan brownie was the best vegan bake I’ve ever tasted, that seemed like the perfect starting point! Combine those two ideas, and you get these!

Caramel shards: https://www.pickuplimes.com/recipe/caramel-shards-1001

Tips and Tricks

  • Add in 3 tsp of mild chilli powder to the brownie mix
  • I didn’t use the flax seeds as stated on the brownie recipe, instead I used more apple sauce as hinted in its notes section
  • Let the caramel cool for a while before breaking into shards
  • Scale the caramel shards recipe for each serving, I did it for 6 which worked well

Recommendation and rating:

Overall, this was a fantastic recipe that was both fun to make and a joy to eat! The brownie itself is soft and gooey, which perfectly contrasts the caramel shards that add a satisfying crunch and sweetness. The chilli heat is a welcome surprise that hits suddenly, lifting the flavour profile. Although it might be too soft for some, perhaps using the flax seed egg substitute would adjust the texture, nevertheless I give it a well-deserved 4 stars!

Rating: 4 out of 5.
